  1. What kind of interaction would the video require from your students? Does it force them to respond in some way (inherent)?
  2. In what way are they likely to respond to the video on their own, e.g., make notes, do an activity, or think about the topic (learner-generated)?
  3. What activity could you suggest that they do after they have watched the video (designed)? What type of knowledge or skill would that activity help develop? What medium or technology would students use to do the activity?
  4. How could the video have been designed to generate more or better activity from viewers or students?

Question 1:

Students aren’t required by the video to answer straight away. Throughout the video, the speaker essentially provides information by reviewing and contrasting three music streaming services. In order to engage with the content, viewers must simply observe and pay attention to the presenter’s thoughts and facts.

Question 2:

After watching the video, students may take notes about the different features of Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music, noting down what stands out about each service, like their unique pros and cons. It may also prompt a lot of critical thinking—many might compare their own experiences with these platforms or evaluate which service could fit their personal preferences and needs better. Many students may engage in discussions with classmates or even hopping onto online forums to share our thoughts, compare opinions, and maybe even debate which music streaming app reigns supreme based on what they learned or experienced.

Question 3:

I would suggest students to write a comparative analysis report on Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music, based on what they learned from the video. The report should dive into various aspects like features, user experience, pricing, and how well each app integrates with other services. They can evaluate these factors in detail and then share their own personal recommendation. This will help students develop an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of each platform and also make an informed choice about which music streaming service might be the best fit for them.

Question 4:

If I were to make any recommendation for the video, I would suggest direct engagement to the viewers. For instance, allow time to pause regularly and provide some key questions or prompts, like, “What features are most important to you in a music streaming service?” or “Which app do you think fits your lifestyle best?” By doing this, the viewers can reflect on what matters most to them. It’s a great way to make sure the viewers are not just passively watching but actively engaging with the content, helping them to better understand and evaluate which music streaming service might be the best match for them.
